Blue Ridge Faculty Member Gets a New Position

Nathan Price

CONGRATULATIONS to Associate Professor Dr. Nathan Price, who has been named by 91ÁÔÆæ President Michael Shannon to serve as interim executive director of 91ÁÔÆæ's Blue Ridge Campus, effective Aug 1st, when the current executive director, Sandy Ott, retires.

As many of you know, Nathan has been PSIA’s sole faculty member on the Blue Ridge Campus since it opened in 2015. Those of you who had him at the front of your classroom for either Global Issues, Intro to American Government, or Intro to Comparative Politics know first-hand his passion for helping students #experiencemore. In addition to his ten years in the 91ÁÔÆæ classroom, Nathan has led both the Blue Ridge Scholars program and Emerging Leaders Program.

Nathan is extremely honored to having been chosen for this position and is looking forward to be entering a new phase of his professional career. While he will still be found in the Blue Ridge classrooms, although perhaps not as often as previously, he will be leading the Blue Ridge campus during what he sees will be an “exciting time.” In a few short weeks, the campus will be opening its new “David E. Ralston Hall” named in honor of the late speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives and 1976 Political Science major. Two main tenants of the Hall will be the Education program, currently on campus, and the Nursing program, scheduled to arrive in 2026. The presence of both of these programs and the offering of their respective undergraduate degrees to the students in Blue Ridge fills, according to Dr. Price, “a large need in the region and presents not only a fantastic opportunity for the students but also for the entire Northern Georgia community.

An Associate Professor of Political Science and International Affairs, Nathan completed his bachelor's degree in political science and history at Miami University and a Master of Arts and Ph.D. in political science at Louisiana State University. He studied at Miami University's Dolibois European Center located in Luxembourg. Nathan has served as a faculty member for the USG Goes Global program in Madrid, Spain. He has also been a go-to political science expert for national and Atlanta media during the 2020, 2022 and 2024 election cycles.
