[Max Garnett, Kinesiology] -
Hello, I’m Max Garnett, a junior at the University of North Georgia in the kinesiology department. I attend the Dahlonega campus. I originally chose 91ÁÔÆæ because of soccer—that was the main reason I came here. Later, when I decided I wanted to major in kinesiology, I realized the program at 91ÁÔÆæ was excellent and a perfect fit for me.
On campus, I’m a member of the soccer team. I also serve as vice president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Off campus, I’m one of the founding members of the Dahlonega Run Club, and I host a podcast.
My advice for anyone coming to 91ÁÔÆæ is to get involved. What you put into college is what you’ll get out of it. Make as many friends as you can, and join the clubs and organizations that fit your interests. There are so many options on campus and plenty of things to do on any given day. Getting involved will bring you joy and make your experience so much more rewarding.
As a freshman, I wasn’t very involved—not nearly as much as I am now. But when I started getting involved in the fall of my sophomore year, I met so many new people, many of whom I now consider my best friends. That’s made me enjoy college so much more.
Looking ahead, I know I want to stay connected to sports—whether through coaching, playing, or training with athletes in the weight room. Sports have been such a positive influence in my life, and the people I’ve met through athletics, especially here at 91ÁÔÆæ, have made a lasting impact on me. Because of that, I want to give back—whether to the school or to the community—in any way I can. My hope is to create opportunities so that others can benefit from the same support I’ve received and continue the cycle of giving back.
